Lamar’s Barrs Steals Southland Weekly Honor with Record-Breaking Week.

first_imgFRISCO, Texas – Lamar’s Chastadie Barrs has claimed her third Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award this season, the Southland Conference announced Monday. All Southland weekly awards are presented by MidSouth Bank.Barrs led the Cardinals as she picked up two consecutive triple-doubles, her third and fourth of the season in a pair of wins against New Orleans and Central Arkansas. The senior now has eight career triple-doubles, extending her Southland Conference career record.Basketball Player of the Week – Chastadie Barrs, Lamar – Sr. – Guard – DeSoto, TexasBarrs filled the stat sheet against New Orleans with 17 points, 12 steals, 10 rebounds and 9 assists in a 79-57 win over the Privateers. She then tied a bow on her week with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to push Lamar to a 57-37 victory at home against Central Arkansas. Barrs has now moved into third-place all-time on the NCAA career steals list with 552. The win over Central Arkansas marked Lamar’s 36th consecutive victory at home, the second longest active streak in the NCAA (second to Connecticut who holds 84 consecutive home wins). Barrs closed out the week averaging 13.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 9.5 assists and 9 steals per game.
