World T20 final vs Sri Lanka in 2014 worst day of my career: Yuvraj Singh

first_imgWorld T20 final vs Sri Lanka in 2014 worst day of my career: Yuvraj SinghYuvraj Singh, who announced his international retirement on June 10, has singled out his failure to get going during the World T20 2014 final as possibly the worst day of his almost 2-decades-long careeradvertisement India Today Web Desk New DelhiJune 10, 2019UPDATED: June 10, 2019 20:10 IST Yuvraj Singh managed just 11 off 21 balls in the World T20 2014 final against Sri Lanka (Reuters)HIGHLIGHTSYuvraj Singh has bid goodbye to international cricket and IPL on June 10Yuvraj recalled that his slow innings during the 2014 T20 World Cup was probably his career’s worst daySri Lanka had beaten India with 13 balls to spare to deny them a 2nd WT20 triumphIndian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday, has revealed that the Final of the 2014 World T20 was probably ‘the worst day’ of his career when he could muster just 11 off 21 balls as India were beaten by Sri Lanka. While Virat Kohli hit 77 off 58 balls, other batsmen including Yuvraj failed to get going as India could only post 130/4 in their 20 overs. After SL completed the chase comfortably, fans and experts worldwide unleashed their fury on Yuvraj for the slow innings, largely blaming him for the title loss.Reminiscing the fateful day, Yuvraj, while announcing his retirement, said that post the final he felt ‘at times that it’s (career) all over’.”Probably the worst day in my cricket career was the 2014 T20 World Cup final against Sri Lanka when I scored 11 off 21 balls. It was so shattering that I felt my career was over, and I was written off by everyone to an extent that it made me feel at times that it’s all over,” said Yuvraj. The left-hander went on to say that it was only after he realized that his ‘love for the game’ made him get attracted towards cricket, that he could start finding his feet again as runs flowed in the domestic circuit.”Then I took a bit of time off and that’s when I realized why I play cricket – its because I love the game. So I went back to basics and scored heavily in domestic cricket and about a year and a half later I made my comeback in T20 for India again where I hit six and four in the last over against Australia in Sydney and suddenly all the belief came right back,” said Yuvraj.advertisementYuvraj is also proud of his match-winning century on comeback against England when ‘everybody said it was impossible’.”Though I was still in and out of the team for a while and after scoring almost 700 runs in 5 games in domestic cricket I finally made a comeback in one day cricket after three years in Cuttack, on 18th January against England in 2017 and recorded my highest one-day score of 150 (127). When everybody said it was impossible,” explained Yuvraj. Finally, in the southpaw’s words, it’s his never-say-die attitude that kept him going even through the toughest of situations on the field and off it.”Trust me I never stopped believing in myself, no matter what the world said. Believe in yourself because if you put your heart & soul into it you can achieve the impossible,” Yuvraj signed off by saying. Also Read | Yuvraj Singh, hero of India’s 2011 World Cup triumph, retires from international cricketAlso Read | Yuvraj Singh picks Sourav Ganguly and Gary Kirsten as his favourite captain and coachAlso See:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. See Better, Ski Better: The Best Ski Goggles Of 2017

first_img The Best Men’s Work Pants for Getting Down to Business Editors’ Recommendations Taxa Outdoors’ Rugged Mantis Travel Trailer Just Got Even Better The Ooni 3 Portable Pizza Oven Produces Perfect Pies on the Go You can’t ski what you can’t see.Ski goggles are often the most overlooked piece of gear when you’re packing up for a long weekend on the slopes. Whether you’re still rocking those late 90’s blacked out Oakleys or yours are so scratched you can hardly see out of them, it’s probably time for an update. We’ve put this eye gear to the test in all conditions and found the very best ski goggles so you can see and ski better. Now go ahead and take that double black diamond.Best All-Around: SPY x Discrete Bravo $230We were lucky enough to get a pair of these late last season to put to the test before they came out. The limited edition SPY x Discrete Bravos hit all the high notes for a perfect pair of goggles. Read our full review here. For Speed Freaks: POC Fovea $140In a radical departure from POC’s world cup ski racing roots, the Fovea features an oversized spherical lens designed for free riders. The excellent contrast and field of view help you spot terrain no matter how fast you’re straight-lining down the mountain. It doesn’t hurt that they look as good as they perform.Best Fit: Shred Optics Smartefy $160+Shred is a relative newcomer on the scene, but like their helmets, their goggles are infused with a long line of industry innovation and DNA. The Smartefy is our favorite from the Shred line, and once you try a pair on it’s easy to see why. Of any goggles we’ve worn this season, these feel the best on our faces. The goggles are extremely wide, lending the best peripheral vision in the industry, but without compromising fit on smaller faces. We especially liked their NoClog hydrophobic treatment on the foam and vents. On storm days it kept them from fogging and icing up,  letting us get in a few extra powder laps. For The Backcountry: Julbo Aerospace $230When you’re earning your turns, everything you wear tends to get sweaty. For conventional ski goggles this is a vision death sentence. Sweat quickly turns to fog and condensation on the inside of goggles. Julbo’s Super Flow system solves this with ease. The entire lens can detach from the goggle body, pulling away and creating extra venting space. After a few afternoon laps on the skin track, you’ll be a believer too.Best Optics: Smith I/O $210This season Smith’s ski goggles get the same award winning Chromapop lens treatments as our favorite sunglasses. Better contrast in flat light, reduced eye fatigue, and more vivid color on the slopes? Sign us up. You will be hard pressed to find a goggle lens with better optical properties than Smith’s I/O.Bonus: Sven Can See $11Your brand new goggles can handle a little snow and fog just fine. Once they’ve got a season on them (or you made the mistake of touching the inner lens with your bare fingers), that factory coating will start to fatigue. We discovered Sven Can See earlier this season when it showed up in our Cairn Subscription Box. This mighty little spray breathes life back into old lenses that are giving you problems with fogging or condensation. If you’re a stickler for good vision when you’re hitting the powder or tree skiing, this is the best purchase you’ll make all season. Is this 5-Star Africa Tour the World’s Most Luxurious Train Ride?

first_img Next As with all travel, rail journeys are more about how you get there, rather than actually arriving. The Pride of Africa boards in Cape Town, departing on a 15-day journey to Dar es Salaam (or vice versa) with stops in some of the most beautiful destinations on the continent. From western South Africa, travelers first stop at historic Matjiesfontein, then Kimberley diamond town, the capital Pretoria, and end with two nights in Madikwe Game Reserve. The train then travels through Botswana and Zimbabwe where guests overnight at the iconic, century-old Victoria Falls Hotel. This is followed by a crossing of the Zambezi River and a bush walk near Chisimba Falls. The last few days are spent navigating the viaducts and switchbacks of the Great Rift Valley. Finally, travelers ride through the Selous Game Reserve (Africa’s largest such reserve) before ending their journey in Dar es Salaam. If anyone can stay true to the seemingly over-hyped “world’s most luxurious train” claim, Frontiers has the swagger, history, and expertise to do so. Since 1969, the company has spearheaded guided luxury travel with some of the world’s most exclusive tours. Their catalog includes an extensive list of bespoke itineraries from cycling Bhutan to photographic safaris in Africa to test driving Ferraris in Italy.Of course, “the world’s most luxurious” anything doesn’t come cheap. This is luxury train travel at its finest. Deluxe Suites start at $16,500 per person based on double occupancy. Give Your Hypercar the Garage It Deserves with a Custom Aston Martin Lair The smell of fine scotch and a hand-rolled cigar in the club car. The slow, rhythmic chug-chug-chug of the locomotive. Impossibly courteous conductors in pressed polyester suits leading you toward your private sleeper car. There’s something romantic and intoxicating about luxury train travel. While it may seem like the Golden Era of rail travel is long gone, some international companies are looking to revive those bygone days. Frontiers International Travel has announced a new itinerary for 2017 that it’s touting as the “world’s most luxurious train.” The exclusive Pride of Africa train is a beautiful, vintage sleeper locomotive with full lounge cars, two dining cars, sleeper cars, and an Observation Car at the rear. The latter is a reconstructed 1960s sleeper car with large panoramic windows and open-air balconies for unparalleled viewing and photo opportunities throughout the journey. Every square inch of the train is adorned with rich wood paneling, button-leather seating, and classic Victorian furnishings. The atmosphere during the day is smart casual — relaxed, but never without a whiff of sophistication. Dinner service is a formal affair — a jacket and tie for men, cocktail dresses for the ladies. To further preserve the simplicity and charm of old-fashioned train travel, there are no radios, televisions, or Internet service anywhere onboard. Guests are also asked to refrain from using cell phones or any form of electronics outside their suites. 1 of 5 Editors’ Recommendations Previous World’s First Luxury Space Hotel Promises Climbing Wall, Low-Gravity Basketball Courts Learn Guitar (and Don’t Give Up) With the Fender Play App 9 Best Spirits For Spiked Apple Cider Live the High Line Life at This Zaha Hadid-Designed Penthouselast_img read more

Pieter Schelte Becomes Pioneering Spirit

first_imgzoom  Swiss-based owner of Pieter Schelte Allseas Group SA said that the vessel is being renamed “Pioneering Spirit”. According to Allseas, the name of the vessel reflects what she stands for: a new technological step in platform installation and decommissioning.“It also fits the 30-year tradition of Allseas to pioneer and surpass technical boundaries, as was done over the years introducing pipelay on dynamic positioning and laying pipelines in ever deeper waters. This vessel encompasses all innovations that have been developed by Allseas over the last 30 years,” the company said in an emailed statement.Allseas decided to change the name of its crane vessel Pieter Schelte after vehement opposition from the maritime unions and most recently Jewish groups from the Netherlands and Belgium. The Panamanian flag of convenience vessel was named in honour of the Allseas Group’s owner’s father, who was a Nazi Waffen-SS officer, jailed for war crimes.Just last week, the company told World Maritime News that it had no intention to change the name. However, as the opposition grew fiercer, resulting even in the involvement of the UK Government, the company succumbed to the public pressure and decided to change its mind.World Maritime News Stafflast_img read more

Adult sentence upheld in grisly 1983 murder committed by 15yearold

first_imgTORONTO – A middle-aged man who lived an ordinary life for decades after raping and killing his frail 70-year-old neighbour deserved the adult life sentence handed him when he was finally brought to justice for the grisly crime he committed as a 15-year-old, Ontario’s highest court ruled Tuesday. In upholding the sentence, the Court of Appeal found the punishment given Christopher Ellacott reasonable and proportionate given the savage killing.“He sexually assaulted and murdered his elderly, vulnerable neighbour. He went on as though nothing had happened, avoiding justice for nearly 30 years,” the Appeal Court said. “There is no explanation for his crime; no sense of what motivated him to have committed so heinous an act.”Court records show Ellacott, a high school student, occasionally did household chores for Velma Thomson, of Petrolia in southwestern Ontario, who had suffered a stroke. In mid-October 1983, the 90-pound hairdresser was found at home, partly nude and lying in a pool of blood. An autopsy found several stab wounds to her heart and her jugular vein cut. She had likely been raped and sodomized, according to the records. The case went cold for years until a random check at a fingerprinting convention allowed police to link a thumbprint from the crime scene to Ellacott. Police then secretly obtained DNA samples from him. They arrested Ellacott in 2008 in Owen Sound, Ont., and charged the working father of two, who had no convictions, with Thomson’s first-degree murder and rape.A jury in Sarnia, Ont., convicted him in April 2012 and in March 2013, Superior Court of Justice John Desotti sentenced the then-45-year-old as an adult, as the Crown had requested. Ellacott was given life without parole eligibility for seven years, and a lifetime supervision order.Ellacott, who abandoned his conviction appeal, challenged the sentence. He argued he should have been punished as a youth, which means he would have received a maximum six years behind bars as opposed to the minimum seven he was given, and only a four-year period of supervision.Desotti made several errors, Ellacott argued, among them not properly considering his age at the time of the crime, and deeming his testimony an aggravating factor. The Appeal Court rejected the idea that he had been less morally culpable because he was 15 when he killed his victim. His blameworthiness was self-evident, the court said.“The appellant’s conduct was no mere mistake or lapse in judgment,” the Appeal Court said. “He committed an act of extreme violence against an elderly, vulnerable neighbour, who until then had no known reason to fear him.”The higher court did find fault with Desotti’s dim view of Ellacott’s testimony. At trial, the accused insisted the incriminating thumbprint came from a day before the crime when he helped Thomson carry a cardboard box inside the home. He also maintained the DNA wasn’t his.The testimony, Desotti said at various points, was a “lame and cobbled contrivance” and “nonsense,” and revealed something “quite sinister” about Ellacott. Those statements crossed the line, the Appeal Court found. Nevertheless, it declined to interfere with the sentence.“Although the sentencing judge erred in using the appellant’s testimony and denial of guilt as aggravating factors, the error is of no consequence,” the Appeal Court said. “The enormity of (Ellacott’s) crime renders a youth sentence manifestly inadequate to hold (him) accountable.”last_img read more

Meeting Heralds Possible Thaw in Iranian Saudi Relations

Marrakech – The Foreign Ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia met on Monday in New York. It was the first such meeting of the two great Islamic powers since the election of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in 2013.An article by Iran’s official press agency IRNA reviewed by the UK Guardian newspaper quoted  Mohamed Javed Zarif as saying: “Both my Saudi counterpart and I believe that this meeting will be the first page of a new chapter in our two countries’ relations.”“We hope that this new chapter will be effective in establishing regional and global peace and security and will safeguard the interests of Muslim nations across the world.“ the Iranian foreign minister added. IRNA quoted Prince Saud al-Faisal as saying: “We are aware of the importance and sensitivity of this crisis and the opportunity we have ahead of us. We believe that by using this precious opportunity and avoid the mistakes of the past, we can deal with this crisis successfully,” he said.“These two countries are influential in the region and cooperation between them will have clear effects on the establishment of regional and global security,“ he added. The tension between the Shia and Sunni sides has overshadowed life in the Middle East region for generations. Any move to better relations in the current military campaign led by the U.S. and its allies against ISIS may yield important benefits.Iranian troops are said to be in Iraq and Syria and the situation on the ground is highly unstable with Israel shooting down a Syrian fighter over the Golan Heights. Israeli hostility towards Iran is yet another complication. In another development, UK Prime Minister David Cameron announced that he would hold the first bilateral UK Iranian talks with President Hussein Rohani in New York, since the Iranian revolution in 1979.British relations with Iran have been difficult for many years and the Prime Minister is seeking to use a recent thaw in relations to ask Iran to drop its support for President Assad who “created the conditions that have allowed terrorism to flourish,” according to a Downing Street  statement quoted by the Guardian. This may perhaps be an over optimistic  assessment. Cameron will also seek progress  on the nuclear issue with Iran.Iran was excluded from the Paris conference on ISIS and US Secretary of State John Kerry had said that Iran had no part to play in the coalition against ISIS despite the fact that it has forces on the ground in Iraq and Syria. read more

Deforestation continues at alarming rate but net loss slows – UN agency

Each year about 13 million hectares of the world’s forests are lost due to deforestation, but the rate of net forest loss is slowing down, thanks to new planting and natural expansion of existing forests, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) announced today. The annual net loss of forest area between 2000 and 2005 was 7.3 million hectares/year – an area about the size of Sierra Leone or Panama – down from an estimated 8.9 million ha/yr between 1990 and 2000. This is equivalent to a net loss of 0.18 per cent of the world’s forests annually. These are some of the key findings of The Global Forest Resources Assessment 2005 (FRA 2005), the most comprehensive assessment to date of forest resources, their uses and value, covering 229 countries and territories between 1990 and 2005.“This assessment allows us to gauge the important role of the world’s forest resources in fulfilling the Millennium Development Goals, in particular in meeting the targets set for reducing poverty and ensuring a sustainable global environment,” said Hosny El-Lakany, Assistant Director-General of the FAO Forestry Department. “It provides a comprehensive update on how we manage and use our forests, and shows that while good progress is being made in many places, unfortunately forest resources are still being lost or degraded at an alarmingly high rate,” he added.Forests now cover nearly 4 billion hectares or 30 per cent of the world’s land area, but 10 countries – Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India, Indonesia, Peru, the Russian Federation and the United States – account for two thirds of all forest area.South America suffered the largest net loss of forests between 2000 and 2005 – around 4.3 million hectares per year – followed by Africa, which lost 4.0 million hectares annually, according to FAO. Oceania had a net loss of 356 000 ha/year in 2000-2005, while North and Central America together had a net loss of 333 000 ha/yr. Asia moved from a net loss of around 800 000 ha per year in the 1990s to a net gain of one million hectares per year between 2000 and 2005, primarily as a result of large-scale afforestation reported by China. Forest areas in Europe continued to expand, although at a slower rate than in the 1990s.The data for the report was provided to FAO by national governments and resource assessment specialists, with more than 800 people involved in the entire process, including 172 national assessment teams, according to Mette Løyche Wilkie, who coordinated the effort.”The outcome of this global partnership is better data, a more transparent reporting process and enhanced capacity to analyze and report on forests and forest resources,” she said, adding that the findings will support decision-making on the issue. read more

Norwich Cathedral accused of treating God like a tourist attraction after installing

“There’s mini golf in Rochester Cathedral now,” he said. “I took a relaxed view of it. The helter skelter is in the west of the nave – the space within medieval cathedrals which you might not call the holiest part of the building. It was often the area used for leisure purposes in the Middle Ages, so I don’t really see this as a desecration, although I can imagine the sort of people who would.”Professor MacCulloch added that some would think the ride a “trendy”, “dangerous” or “undignified” installation erected in a bid to entice people through the doors of religious buildings as society becomes increasingly secularised. The Cathedral has eschewed accusations that the helter skelter is a sign of being “desperate” to entice visitors through its doors, but rather a “sign of our confidence [that] we know exactly what a cathedral is for”. Adrian Dorber, chair of the Association of English Cathedrals, said that “creative innovation is part of our mission”. “There is a cathedral shaped space out there and we hope we are occupying it in bold, fresh and exciting ways that welcome people, that challenge, that engage with our communities and reach new audiences and that say something about cathedrals being a place for all, while ensuring our buildings will be there for our future generations.”  Many Cathedrals face financial struggles however congregations have risen by about 10 per cent in a decade, with a total weekly attendance of 37,000 people. The Archbishop of Canterbury even told a cathedrals conference last year: “The first thing I want is for people not to be bored. I want them to have fun … If you can’t have fun in a cathedral, you don’t know what fun is.”Diarmaid MacCulloch, professor of the history of the church at the University of Oxford, has also taken a more lighthearted view of the ride.  Reverend Canon Andy Bryant, of Nowich Cathedral said the idea came to him when he was visiting the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy. The ride has also drawn criticism from Christians and humanists alike. One Twitter user wrote: “Yeah, I’m seeing it as desecration and mockery (and I’m not even Christian).”  Another added: “We need to bring back the Inquisition to England.”Some took it even more seriously, with one user tweeting the ominous message: “One day, God will punish you for this.”The ride is the latest ‘stunt’ to grace holy buildings. Last month Rochester Cathedral opened a crazy golf course in its nave, allowing visitors to putt their way round the 11th-century building. In the past visitors have also skated in the aisles at Gloucester and gazed at the moon in Liverpool The Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Jane Hedges and choristers from the boys and girls choir at the launch of the 55ft Helter Skelter  Reverend Canon Andy Bryant, of Nowich Cathedral said the idea came to him when he was visiting the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy.Credit:Jason Bye /Jason Bye  For just £2 a ride, visitors will be able to enjoy a closer look at the medieval roof bosses or carvings which depict Biblical stories from the 40ft viewing platform. However he added: “But Cathedrals don’t have any problem at all getting people in through the doors, so this shouldn’t be seen as a desperate attempt to get people in the building. “I’m not sure I would have done it,” he said, “but its worth seeing what it does.”  The funfair ride has a viewing platform at 40ft which will allow the riders have a unique experience when embracing the cathedral’s 69ft-high roof. It costs £2 per ride, with funds covering the cost of hire from a funfair company and any surplus going into cathedral initiatives. Sign up to our free twice-daily  Front Page newsletter and new  audio briefings. The ride is part of the Cathedral’s ‘Seeing It Differently’ campaign, which was devised by Rev Bryant, with the aim of giving people the opportunity to experience the building “in an entirely new way and open up conversations about faith”.However  the Right Reverend Dr Gavin Ashenden, former chaplain to the Queen, has criticised the Cathedral for making a “mockery” of God. “Instead of allowing a Cathedral to act as a bridge between people and God’s presence, instead it obscures it by offering to entertain and divert people,” he told The Telegraph. They may be renowned for their architectural majesty, historic significance and – at a push – their niche gift shop offerings. Yet in recent years the trend for opening up cathedrals to the public by advertising novelty attractions  – with everything from an installation of the moon to hosting skate festivals – has sparked furious debate. Now Norwich Cathedral is the latest religious building to be accused of “treating God like a tourist attraction”, after it installed a 55-ft helter skelter in its nave. Reverend Canon Andy Bryant, the Cathedral’s Canon for Mission and Pastoral Care, said the idea came to him when he was visiting the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy.“The fun comes in the shape of a helter skelter,” he said. “The serious comes in creating opportunities for reflective, God-shaped conversations. It is playful in its intent but also profoundly missional. “It is the Cathedral doing what it has always done – encouraging conversations about God. By its sheer size and grandeur it speaks of the things of God; it points beyond itself. Its sheer presence helps to keep the rumour of God alive and plays its part in passing on the story of Salvation.” Rochester cathedral  opened a crazy golf course in its naveCredit:IKM PICS/Jim Bennett/Vantagenews /BEN Visitors to Church of England cathedrals The Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Jane Hedges and choristers from the boys and girls choir at the launch of the 55ft Helter Skelter  Visitors to Church of England cathedralsCredit:./Church of England Media “There’s a sliding scale between mockery and blasphemy. It’s a mockery because it’s treating God like a tourist attraction, instead of as the creator of the universe who is going to hold us accountable for our ethical failures. “It becomes blasphemy at the point where the cathedrals represent a long line of belief – much of which is martyred belief – people have paid with their lives to believe in Christ and cathedral is corporeal embodiment of Christ.” “To turn this into entertainment,” he added, “is blasphemous to Christ and the people who died for Christ. It suggests cathedrals have lost their responsibility to Christ because they are preoccupied with the demands of society.” read more

HBO is pure evil for releasing a Game of Thrones Season 7

first_imgHBO and Game Of Thrones have figured out one of our weaknesses and they’re exploiting it early and to maximum potential. That weakness? Teasers. While I may not be a fan of teaser trailers for teaser trailers or that weird five-second teaser trailer they’re putting in front of other trailers these days, I love a good tease and this new video from HBO is working it like one of the burlesque queens of old.If you want to blame someone for sucking you into this teaser trailer, blame the lovely Sasha Perl-Raver for sharing it on her Twitter account. Or blame HBO, or Game Of Thrones, or even George R.R. Martin. Just don’t blame me because I’m just the messenger dutifully passing along the “news” that this teaser exists. It’s pure evil. It’s Qyburn and Cersei plotting levels of evil but it’s also wonderful because it’s a reminder that season seven is already being created. It’s just out of reach. Tantalizingly close to showing you something; a glimpse, a peek, a secret. I’ve watched it multiple times looking for any clue and I’m sure I’ll watch it again several more times as I try and see what’s hidden in plain sight.last_img read more

Walker Commands Lawmakers To Act On Appointments

first_imgGov. Bill Walker has issued a proclamation that would force legislators to act on his appointments. The executive proclamation comes days after legislative leadership cancelled their confirmation session — and days after the governor sent a six-page letter reiterating that he would veto a contentious gasline bill and urging lawmakers not to override him. All of the governor’s cabinet members and board appointments require legislative approval before the end of the session, or else the appointments are voided. In February, legislative leadership requested a legal memo explaining the consequences of disregarding the confirmation vote.In a press release, Walker stated he was “concerned” by the memo and the cancellation, adding that “the risk that these hardworking Alaskans will not have the opportunity of a confirmation vote is unacceptable.”Members of Legislature have expressed reservations about some of Walker’s nominations, including his pick for attorney general and his appointments to the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation. The joint session is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. While the legislators are obligated to convene at that time, they are not required to take an up-down vote on the individual appointments. The last time a governor forced lawmakers into joint session over confirmations was in 1983, when then-Gov. Bill Sheffield sent state troopers after legislators to force them to appear on the floor.last_img read more

Of course the Spurs have to do business with the LakersToday, New York Times NBA writer Marc Stein reported that the Spurs and Gregg Popovich would be willing to deal Kawhi Leonard to L.A. if they had the best trade package. Stein’s scoop only confirmed what Colin has said since the trade demand went public. While many in the media said Pop would never deal Leonard to a conference rival, Colin has maintained that Leonard and his team have played their hand perfectly by demanding a trade to one specific team. With only one year remaining on his contract, Leonard has eliminated the possibility of a deal with any other teams who wouldn’t have any shot to sign him to a long term deal. While some in the past – see Dwight Howard and Paul George – have bungled their attempted exits from the team that drafted them, Leonard’s plot is the blueprint of how to handle the situation.last_img read more
